AMA #24: Blas Ingiulla, Main Organizer of Argentina Train Jam

Blas is the Main Organizer of #ArgTrainJam in Argentina. It’s an event similar to the American Train Jam, where game developers go on a long, scenic train ride through the country, all while trying to make a game before the train reaches its final destination.

Blas is a game developer who lives in Buenos Aires, and he loves supporting the local game development community. He shipped an Android game called The CoreFollow him on Twitter.

AMA #20: Ed Magnin, Director of Development at Magnin & Associates

Ed Magnin has been working in the game industry for the past 35+ years. Earlier in his career he worked for some of the top game developers of their day – MicroProse, Cinemaware, Virgin Games, and Park Place Productions. Then in 1993, he founded Magnin & Associates and has focused on handheld games ever since — Nintendo Game Boy and DS, then iOS, Android and Windows games.

AMA #18: Fernando Reyes Medina, Technical Designer at 343 Industries

Fernando works on Halo‘s multiplayer team. He was born and raised in Mexico City, he graduated with a computer science degree from Tecnologico de Monterrey. Fernando is the founder of Bee Collective, a non-profit game studio focused on creating interactive broadcasting games with 100% of the revenue going to charity. As one of the leads of Xbox’s Latinx in Gaming, Fernando organizes social and professional events that allow members of the Latinx community to break into the game industry and succeed. He believes in the true democratization of Gaming, where everyone has a game that talks to them and everyone is empowered to create their own games.

GDC 2018 Roundtable: Better Game Developer Clubs: Improving Student Orgs

The IGDA Student SIG hosted a roundtable session at GDC 2018 called Better Game Developer Clubs: Improving Student Orgs Roundtable. Roundtable sessions aren’t recorded, but this article is a summary of our discussion, thanks to notes taken by Zoram Mercado. This isn’t an outline of the conversation as it played out, rather it’s a loosely organized list of suggestions that were brought up.

In this article “clubs” refer to student-run organizations in higher-education (colleges and universities).
